A Few Words about Sun King Expanding to Fishers

It’s not new news that Sun King’s expanding. It’s not new news that their multi-million dollar property investment will be in Fishers. And it’s also not new news that some people are not pleased about the choice to take that investment outside of Marion County. But we’re happy for those guys.

You don’t have to be. But we are.

Over the years, we’ve been able to depend on Sun King for an ungodly amount of donated beer that has helped us raise funds (or keep costs down) for our own events and programming.

And we know we’re not the only nonprofit in town that can say that. When was the last time you went to a fundraiser in Indianapolis that didn’t have Sun King beer?

They’ve been incredible sponsors and partners and champions—and well, just down right good friends to us and to Indianapolis. And we want to see them succeed no matter where they go.

Of course, we’d love for them to keep everything here, but the last thing we want is for our friends to think we’re ungrateful and that our needs come before their own.

We imagine Sun King picked Fishers for a lot of good reasons because so far they’ve proven to be an extremely intentional and successful company. Our hearts flutter with pride thinking of how cool it will be to say those guys started here in Indy.

We don’t see this move as a question of Sun King’s loyalty to Indianapolis. Anything but, really.

So, thank you, Sun King. We mean it. You’re awesome. Grapefruit Jungle and Popcorn Pilsner are our–okay, Jenny‘s–favorites, Ratherskellar Amber for Karissa, and that good old Cream Ale for Molly. And in the event you’d be interested in covering your Fishers’ tasting room with information about how awesome and exciting it is to live and volunteer and hang out in Indianapolis, well, you know where to find us.
