The 1828 Project is one of our signature programs at IndyHub and each year it’s full of incredible leaders between the ages of 18 and 28. Thomas is a part of 1828’s Class VII. We sent him some questions and he responded. Keep reading to learn more about Thomas!

Where do you work?

I am currently the Patron & Donor Relations Associate at The Cabaret. I help with fundraising needs as well as manage the box office and all sales.

Where are you originally from?

I’m originally from Saint Louis, MO. Born and raised!

What made you lay your roots here in Indianapolis?

I came to Indianapolis to go to Butler University in 2009. After graduating, I moved away for a year or so but I couldn’t resist coming back to this amazing city!

If you had to choose one mode of transportation to get around our city, which would you choose and why? (Bike, walk, BlueIndy, IndyGo, Car…Vespa, Monorail, anything!)

Definitely monorail, I love cities that have a subway/train system. It’s always so easy to get around. I’m very excited for the Red Line! [Editor’s note: Preach! We are too.]

Which local restaurant is your favorite? What’s your go-to order?

I’m pretty basic and I would say my favorite restaurant is Bru Burger. And I always have to get the Provençal burger. YES PLEASE!

What are you most excited for with 1828, or who has been your favorite speaker thus far?

I’m excited to network with other young professionals in my city. I think our class is very diverse specifically in what we do, so it’s interesting what other people’s day jobs are. My favorite speaker so far has been Melody Park from the City. I loved hearing her backstory and how she got into her field.

What are you most excited about when thinking about the future of our city?

This might be a little selfish because I work for an arts organization, but I’m most excited about all the amazing opportunities in the arts coming up in 2018. There is so much happening and this is truly an amazing time to be part of Indianapolis!

If you could make one rule that everyone on earth had to follow, what would it be?

Just be nice to other people, I mean it really isn’t that hard. Especially during these times, we all need a little love.

Truthfully, what gets you fired up (whether it’s excitement, fear, anger)?

I really love celebrating my friends birthdays, as weird as that sounds. I love to shower my friends with love and just surround them with a good time.

What’s your dream adventure vacation?

I’d love to go back to Australia and travel the whole country someday. I’ve been before but it was over 10 years ago and I need to go back. I’d love to go back to the Outback and sleep outside under those stars again!
