By third-grade, kids who aren’t on track with reading are more likely to drop out. ReadUP matches volunteers with local child care providers and schools to help kids get on track — and stay on track — with grade-level literacy.
Through ReadUP, volunteer tutors help third and fourth grade students reach grade-level literacy and pass the English Language Arts portion of the ISTEP. For most Central Indiana children, caring adults are the difference between academic success and failure. Just one hour a week is all it takes to impact the life of a child. Can you spare an hour?
We are currently looking for ReadUP tutors for our ReadUP Program which runs September- May. The program takes place in 39 schools in Marion County.
More about United Way of Central Indiana
For nearly 100 years, we have strived to help all Central Indiana residents achieve and maintain self-sufficiency by focusing on four key areas of community impact – Education, Income, Health and Basic Needs – in the six-county region of Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Marion and Morgan counties.
We invest in expert research and perform regular community assessments to identify the areas of greatest need and to advance the best solutions to address these needs. Then we work with strategic partners such as businesses, human services agencies, schools and governmental institutions to ensure your dollars do as much good as possible.
Please join us in improving the life and health of our community by volunteering with United Way programs and other meaningful service opportunities.
