IDADA’s Super Bold Event - TURF IDADA Art Pavilion

At the annual Start With Art Luncheon in September 2010, Mayor Ballard asked the Indy arts community to "Be Bold." The IDADA board took that message to heart and came up with an ambitious idea, the final result of which is now just days away. All IndyHubbers should make plans to attend TURF: IDADA Art Pavilion sometime between this Friday and Super Bowl Sunday. This event is a first-of-its-kind and has never been done in a Super Bowl host city.

The IDADA Art Pavilion consists of over 20 experiential art installations. Some of your favorite local artists (find a full list at the IDADA Turf website, www.idadaartpavilion.com) have spent months of creative time and energy turning the venue into a mind-blowing art extravaganza.

Speaking of the venue, it's a work of art itself that IDADA is proud to open up again to the world, if only for one month.  The IDADA Art Pavilion is located in the historic old Indianapolis City Hall building at Ohio and Alabama (most recently home to the interim Central Library and Indiana State Museum). Most Indianapolis residents haven't been inside this beautiful building in decades and IDADA was overjoyed when the Mayor made this venue available for the project.

Can't wait to see it? Put on your fancy clothes and attend this Friday evening's art-studded GALA OPENING. Tickets include access to the TURF installations, hors d’oeuvre provided by the Skyline Club and a cash bar. Online ticket purchases are available at http://turfindy.eventbrite.com.

TURF will culminate with the First Friday gallery tour on February 3, the Friday of Super Bowl weekend. The TURF project is designed to drive visitors from the Art Pavilion to various IDADA-member galleries in a 20-square-block area of downtown Indianapolis. TURF will introduce a national and international group of visitors to the world-class downtown art galleries that we've come to know and love.

See you at the galleries. Kenan
