Spring? If you insist!
Published: March 27, 2012 by Suzanne Flynn Categories: Lifestyle & Wellness Comments: 0Well, a week ago today, spring officially made its entrance. If you look at our mild winter, you might argue that spring shoved winter aside (move it, you lame season!) with a vengeance long before March 20th.
When I saw people mulching two weeks ago, I thought they were crazy. Well, after this weekend, my husband (and all his 700 or so muscles) will tell you that our mulching is nearly complete as well!
Our next-door neighbors were sweating outside planting flowers last week (hopefully they won’t regret that with the frost advisory last night).
Now many of you know that I am... read on

Saving All My Love for You
Published: February 14, 2012 by Suzanne Flynn Categories: Arts & Entertainment Comments: 1Never before has a song about having an affair with a married man been sang with such fervor then by Whitney Houston in the mid-90s. That is until this morning when I sang it for my husband and dogs fashioning a TV remote as my microphone.
I was at a baby shower on Saturday night when we found out Mrs. Brown had died. As of today, when I’m writing this, they haven’t determined the cause of death. Of course we’re all speculating it was drug related considering she was only 48 and had a very bad history with serious drug addiction and abuse.
Even if she were still in recovery, after... read on -
Facebook—on the way out of favor?
Published: December 19, 2011 by Suzanne Flynn Categories: Lifestyle & Wellness Comments: 2After a few months of hearing people complain about Facebook, their “friends”, and the fact that apparently, my 15 year reunion was a flop of disinterest, I am really starting to believe what I couldn’t a few years ago.
I noticed this weekend more examples of the disenchantment with Facebook. While out for a friend’s birthday, it was referred to as “Faceplace” and I heard teasing about status updates of fellow users.
Probably about 6+ years ago, 18-21 year olds were annoyed/ mortified as the 22-60+ year old population invaded and polluted Facebook. We were all still rocking Myspace... read on -
Thanksgiving
Published: November 21, 2011 by Suzanne Flynn Categories: Lifestyle & Wellness Comments: 1For some reason, I feel like every time I sit down to and put on my “Suz in the City hat” (which is actually a beret), I feel like I’m up against a deadline. And by deadline, I mean a holiday!
Here it is the 21st of November, and Thanksgiving is only a few days away. Now, I don’t want to brag, but I will. I am an expert at Thanksgiving because for the last few years, we have had two Thanksgivings. I know many people ATTEND more than one Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving. But we actually celebrate Thanksgiving a week early with relatives to make sure we break bread with everyone important!... read on

H-A-Double L-O-Double U- Double E- N Spells Halloween
Published: October 24, 2011 by Suzanne Flynn Categories: Networking & Social Comments: 1That title, or rather song, would make more sense if you were a graduate of Hinkle Creek Elementary School at some point in the late 80s. That said, it’s Halloween time, and I want to dish costumes.
I looked online at the great and powerful Google, and I saw the top dog costumes of this year. A few weeks ago on SNL (yes, I still tivo and watch this show that may or may not be on its death bed), Seth Meyers said that dressing your dog up in a costume is a way to tell your neighbors “We can’t have kids.” He said that it’s also a great way to see a bumblebee taking a number 2 (then they... read on -
The Colts are Losing, and Like a True Fan…
Published: September 26, 2011 by Suzanne Flynn Categories: Arts & Entertainment Comments: 4…I’ve abandoned them like puppies on the side of the road. OK, maybe that’s a little harsh, as I would never leave puppies on the side of the road. I think that I’m bummed about the Colts’ losing streak because I’m not a huge football fan. When someone explained the downs system to me about 8 years ago, that helped, but I’m still fairly clueless.
When you’re admittedly oblivious about the game, it’s hard to cheer for a team that you really only see losing. You don’t understand that they’re getting better (are they?) or improving with every loss (is this what’s happening?). You only see... read on

Labor Day
Published: September 1, 2011 by Suzanne Flynn Categories: Lifestyle & Wellness Comments: 0We all know it; we love it; and we observe it. But, why?? Well, I was semi-curious about that question, so I went to the United States Department of Labor website for some fast facts.
Labor Day is always the first Monday in September. How was it created though? The labor movement started the tradition for workers to celebrate the social and economic achievements of American workers. Translation: we celebrate that we have a day off, and with that day off we are social by having parties, which are not
BYOB since we’re simultaneously celebrating our economic achievements.
Who founded... read on -
No Tickets to the Brickyard?
Published: July 27, 2011 by Suzanne Flynn Categories: Lifestyle & Wellness Comments: 0Here are ten OTHER things you could be doing in Indianapolis this weekend:
1. Find a go-cart racetrack (I recommend the slick track in Whiteland), and let your inner child have some fun!
2. Go see Taylor Swift in concert at Conseco and hear her croon about her ex-boyfriends.
3. Attend or participate in a pierogi eating contest (including a pierogi toss). Check it out at pierogifest.net Let’s face it: do you really need a reason to attend this??
4. Hit the Rock Lobster at 1am and listen to sirens blare while you shake your booty on the dance floor.
5. Go run the “Call me Al 5K” at... read on
